 June 2015 to July 2015 –  Art Department Teaching Assistant voluntary placement.

Working with dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia students aged 13-16 developing their sketchbooks and assignment art work. I helped plan lesson workshops activities and created a professional presentation for year 10 and 11 careers week by presenting my own experiences of education at Art and Design College,  university courses and future careers.

January 2015 to May 2015 – Art and Technology Department Teaching Assistant work placement. 

Working with students aged 11- 18, developing their sketchbooks and art work for assignments. Gained professionals skills, understanding of some teaching methods and pupil’s learning.

Organising meetings, minutes, working with other students and tutors to coordinate opening and closing events for the exhibition.

 

Hestercombe Gallery, Hestercombe Gardens, Taunton

June 2014 to September 2014 – Volunteered as an Invigilator for the ‘Leaping the Fence’ exhibition.

Showcasing sixteen leading contempory artists including Tracey Emin, Mark Wallinger, Marc Quinn, Mike Nelson, and Gavin Turk. ‘Leaping the Fence’ explores the relationship between man and the landscape, how they impact on one another, presented using various art media such as sound, radio, film, sculpture, painting and digital works.

Art Space 101, Roland Levinsky (Main Building) Plymouth University 

March 2014 – Curator at ‘Light and Shadows’ exhibition.

Showcasing two students’ MA and BA Fine Art work, including film projection, photography and painting. This show conveyed the ideas of light and shadows using the mediums of painting, photography and video. The two students exhibiting; Phillip Bath (BA Hons Year 3) and Georgina Roberts (BA Hons Year 2) used mediums effectively to reflect how light and shadows impact on our daily lives and also highlighted the landscapes forms and transitions surrounding us.

Elected to be Vice Chairman and Treasurer for the Pups Society Committee, attending meetings, managed finances, currently elected as Secretary.Taking part in exhibitions.

Social Making – Socially Engaged Now and Next Symposium

28th-29th April 2015 partnership with Plymouth University and Take a Part

Social Making brings international socially engaged practices to Plymouth, presenting a wide network of art organisations (Effervescent), Assemble (Architects), producers, directors, curators and artists. The symposium discusses and discovers project methodologies and how it can impact on to different societies today. How it can support students, incoming artists, academics and professionals to share subjects and interests together to encourage socially engaged practices in the art world.

Redefining Print: The Symposium

One day event challenges the traditional boundaries of printmaking commissioned five artists’ Katy Connor, Bryony Gillard, Mark Leahy, Volkhardt Müller and Clare Thornton to create new possibilities for printmaking. Other speakers joined with the artists:  Professor Jo Stockham – Head of Printmaking,  John Phillips Director of London Print Studio- Royal College of Art, Carolyn Black -Flow Projects, Elizabeth Tomos – Artist Printmaker and Joshua Gaunt- Film Maker.
